Josh Goldman is a composer / improviser / guitarist / educator who resides in the United States. He composes / improvises / performs music, using acoustic and electronic sources, for various ensembles and settings. Much of his music combines sound and visual elements (film / video / various installation spaces).
His compositions and performances have been presented internationally, including: Futura Festival 2009 (France), JSEM/MSJ Electroacoustic Festival 2009 (Japan), World Financial Center Winter Garden (USA), IV Jornadas Argentinas de Musica Contemporanea 2008 (Argentina), MusicX Festival (USA), 38th Synthese Festival (France), Computer Art Congress 2008 (Mexico), ICEBOX 02 (South Africa), “The Store” McMurdo Station (Antarctica), Fieldwork on 2SER-FM (Australia), ISCM World New Music Festival 2006 (Germany), Signal and Noise 2006 (Canada), 11th International Festival of Electroacoustic Music: ‘Spring in Havana 2006′ (Cuba), San Francisco Tape Music Festival 2006 (USA), Musicacoustica 2005: Mix (China), CBGB’s Gallery (USA), Knitting Factory (USA), Jordan Hall (USA) and others.
He has received awards from Miso Music (Portugal), Institut International de Musique Electroacoustique de Bourges (France), Accademia Musicale Pescarese (Italy), Madrid Abierto (Spain), Delaware Valley Arts Alliance (USA), ASCAP (USA) and others.
In 2007, he was an Artist-in-Residence at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts, the Montana Artists Refuge and the Prairie Center of the Arts.
Mr. Goldman holds degrees from New England Conservatory of Music (BM in music performance) and Brooklyn College, CUNY (MM in music composition). Currently, he is pursuing a doctoral degree in music composition at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where he is employed as a Graduate Assistant at the Center for Computer Music.
