CologneOFF - Cologne Online Film Festival
opened now the submission period for its 5th festival edition
CologneOFF V - to be launched in November 2009

CologneOFF V has 2 festival themes:

1. On Violence
(wikipedia) “Violence is the expression of physical force against others, compelling action against one’s will on pain of death or physical harm.Variant uses of the term refer to the destruction of non-living objects (see property damage). Worldwide, violence is used as a tool of manipulation and also is an area of concern for law and culture who take attempts to suppress and stop it. Violence can take many forms anywhere from mere hitting between two humans where there can be bodily harm, to war and genocide where millions may die as a result. It should be noted that violence can be non-physical as well.”

2. Taboo? Taboo!
(wikipedia) “A taboo is a strong social prohibition or ban against words, objects, actions, or discussions considered undesirable or offensive to a group, culture, society, or community. Breaking a taboo, considered objectionable, abhorrent or unacceptable by the majority in a community by in engaging in activities or not adhering to local customs usually leads to severe penalties applied by rule of law. Other common reactions by persons breaking taboos result in embarrassment, shame and are commonly considered by others as a sign of rudeness.”

was founded in 2006 by Wilfried Agricola de Cologne, who is directing and curating this new type of film & video festival taking place simultaneously online and physical space via cooperating partner festivals.

After successful 4 festival editions, i.e

CologneOFF II - “Image vs Music” - 2006
CologneOFF III - “Toon! Toon! - art cartoons and animates narriatives” - 2007
CologneOFF IV - “Here We Are! 2008

and their physical manifestations 2006-2009
in New Dehli/India, Rotterdam/NL, Maracaibo/Venezuela,
Rosario/Argentina, Lyon/France, Belgrade/Serbia, Szeczin/Poland, Brussels/Belgium, Istanbul/Turkey, Guadaljara/Mexico, Athens/Greece, Sarajevo/Bosnia-Hercegovia, Thessaloniki/Greece, Clermont-Ferrand/France and others

the 5th edition of Cologne Online Film Festival
is planned to be launched in November 2009
and
invites artists and directors for submitting videos/films,
i.e. narratives and documentations,
experimenting with new concepts of transforming artistic contents into moving images, new forms of representing und new technologies

Deadline: Tuesday, 1 September 2009
Themes: 1. on Violence - 2. Taboo? Taboo!
The full-length films/videos may originate from the years 2004-2009.
Excerps of videos or films are not accepted!!
Duration: max 15 minutes
Max 2 films/videos can be submitted.
Productions using language and/or text other than English need English subtitles.
The preview copy should be preferably made available online for review and/or download
as Quicktime . mov, Windows Media .wmv, Flash video .swf or.flv or Real Media .rm
minimum size 320×240 px
–> if no own website is available, alternatively the film can be submitted via an upload/download service, for instance, SENDSPACE - www.sendspace.com - a free service, after upload send the link, and CologneOFF downloads the film then (please do not use “MEGAUPLOAD - www.megaupload.com - for uploading a video file!!!!!)

After selection the artists/directors will be invited to send a hardcopy of the selected video on DVD in best screening quality.
