In 2008, VideoChannel Cologne and CologneOFF - Cologne International Videoart Festival - realised the 1st part fo “Family Affair” focussed on complex aspects of the “Mother” as a topic.
In 2010, VideoChannel & CologneOFF are very glad to continue “Family Affairs” spotlighting the aspects “Father” & “Brothers & Sisters”.

Like “Mother” before, also the topics “Father” and “Brother & Sisters” can be interpreted the way how language allows, but especially “father” may have - depending on the social and cultural conditions - a sometimes controverse relevance in the psychological development of a child.
So exploring the aspects of “memory & identity” concerning the position of the father in one’s life seems to be particular interesting.

Like all VideoChannel projects, also the 2nd part of “Family Affair” is planned to be presented online and in physical space via screenings after its launch in September 2010.

Regulations
—————————————————-

• deadline: 31 May 2010
• Topics: “Father” - “Brother & Sisters”
• Duration: max 10 minutes (exceptions up to 15 minutes are possible on request)
• only one film/video can be submitted for each topic
• Productions using language and/or text other than English need English subtitles.
• Different formats like documentary, fiction or experimental videos/films are welcome
• The preview copy should be preferably made available online for review and/or download
as Quicktime . mov, Windows Media .wmv, Flash video .swf or.flv - minimum size 640×480
–> if no own website is available, alternatively the film can be submitted via an upload/download platform, for instance, SENDSPACE - www.sendspace.com - a free upload service, after upload please send the link, and VideoChannel will download the film
• The selected artists/directors will be invited to send a hardcopy of the selected video on DVD in best screening quality.
