Walthamstow International Film Festival 2011
September 2011 – London/UK

Today, Walthamstow International Film Festival launched its Call for Entries Film, which features a collage of shots from E17 residents and students from the E17 Film Workshops a rainbow coloured greyhound designed by Keith Livingstone and original music by John Nicholls, both local artists.

Festival organisers, Paul Fletcher and Liza Fletcher hope to attract as many films as possible and to beat last years’ record of 90 films. All submitted films will be shown during the festival to launch and display local and international talent and provide a platform to show films in the Drama, Documentary, Experimental, and Music and Animation categories.

The festival, which is due to take place over the weekends of the 3rd and 4th September at Ye Olde Rose and Crown Pub in Hoe Street and later the 10th and 11th of September at Beyca Retro Furniture Emporium in Grove Road will feature 3 minute films from London based, UK and international film-makers.

London listings magazine, Time Out will sponsor the Prizes for the winning film-makers along with independent film-makers’ services Productionbase and Shooting People. A sponsor is being sought to fund The Audience Vote prize, which will be collated on the last day of the Festival and awarded by local MP Stella Creasy, also one of the original judges and supporters of the event.

The festival judges are Baroness Oona King, actor Paul McGann, director Barry Bliss and Time Out film critic David Jenkins. Judging will take place in August once all the competition entries are in.

2011 marks the second year for The Walthamstow International Film Festival, which was launched by local residents Paul and Liza Fletcher. They also run the E17 Films Workshops, which take place on alternate Tuesday evenings at Ye Olde Rose & Crown on Hoe Street Walthamstow.
