Video Bardo
An international travelling Festival located in Buenos Aires (Argentina, nov 2012) that will be in several cities around the world along 2012.

Open Call
2012 is a year of deep changes. Humanity suffers of electronic hiperconnection and natural hipoconnection (with Nature and with the Earth that we are part of). Due to these facts, serious and urgent issues about environment, climate and humans have been provoked. We support The Earth Summit 2012 Río +20 of United Nations that will deal all those issues (www.earthsummit2012.org). We must do something as
poets, artists and human beings; we must rethink all these matters. That is why our IV International Festival of Videopoetry 2012 has as specific theme “For the Earth”; its purpose will be to become aware of the fact that We Are Earth.

We understand Videopoetry as an audiovisual work where the verbal language (word, letter, speech, writing, sign) has prominence or special treatment in order to transform the audiovisual piece. Therefore these three fields: Image in movement, Sound and Verbal language have a dialogue that become a fourth reality that is the Videopoetry Work. In videopoetry the experience of verbal language have graphic,
sound, corporal and abjectual dimension. This meaning can become in other different approaches that we call “extended Videopoetry”.

Requirements
1- Themes:
a) Main theme Ecology: The human being in relation with the Earth.
b) Other themes: Free subject works with interest to VideoBardo will be admitted in
order to keep our usual open minded policy about contents and point of views.

2- Kind of works:
a) Videopoetry in sigle channel audiovisual work.
b) “Extended” Videopoetry: proposals about poetry in experimental support or that are close to videopoetry; they must include verbal language + image + sound.

Examples:
Poetry in CD Rom (visual or sound poetry in movement), Videoclip where the poem appears as a song, Videopoetic Documental, Videopoetic Fiction, Videopoetic Animation, Videopoetic Installation, Poetic VJ, Poetic NetArt, Film Poem in terms of Pasolini, Vertov and others…

3- Proposals from artists of any nationality and age will be admitted.

4- Any language will be admitted and there is no term of duration, year of
production or dimension. For works with any other language that Spanish, it is advisable to include subtitles or a document with the translation in order to help to the whole understanding of the work.

5- VideoBardo will do a selection among all proposals which will be presented at the IV International Festival of Videopoetry 2012 for the Earth, in Buenos Aires and abroad. Beacause of the independent nature of VideoBardo, the Festival has not any financial resources for artist fees or delivery expenses. The artist can request an fficial invitation to the Festival in order to get any resources by his own.

6- For installations, VJ sessions and other kind of works that require assembly or an special equipment, the artist will be the only responsable to provide of all the elements; VideoBardo will not be responsable of installing or mounting the piece in the exhibition room and has not any resources for artistic production.

7- The received material will not be returned, even if the proposal is not selected. All materials will become part of VideoBardo Archive. Once the artist send the proposal, it involves that he authorizes VideoBardo to show some extracts or images of the work in press media during the Festival. The artist will keep all royalties and the property of the work. All records in VideoBardo Archive cannot be coppied, just consulted.

Documentation
1- Single Channel Videos:
- All videos must be sent in DVD pal format. Video files as Avi, Mov, Wmv,
etc. Will no be accepted. The DVD must be labeled with this information: title, artist’s name, nacionality, e-mail, web, duration. Copy in Mini DV format will be requested in case of being selected.
- CD with the technical form in Word and 3 stills of the video in 300 dpi.
2- Other formats (Videopoetic Installations, CD Rom, Poetic Vj, poetic Net Art, …)
- CD with the technical form in Word and all kind of documentation
needed for the understanding of the proposal (project, images, sketches, technical and space requirements, etc.)

More than one work per artist is allowed.
Deadline 31st July 2012
Applications sent after this date will not be considered for the Festival; however they will be kept for future screenings and exhibitions.
Sending the material involves the acceptance of the conditions of the open call; every issue not included into these rules will be resolved by VideoBardo.
