Wanted! New films for a poem!

The ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival is inviting filmmakers to make a film based on the poem [meine heimat] by Ulrike Almut Sandig. A jury will select the best film from among those submitted.

The directors of the three best film versions will be invited to come to the festival in Berlin to meet the poet and have the opportunity to present and discuss their films. You can find the poem together an audio recording and translations at

The closing date for submissions is 2 May 2012 . All films that are submitted will automatically be entered for all the festival’s competitions as well! In total, prizes to the value of € 10,000 will be awarded.

The ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival was the first and is the biggest international platform for short films that engage with poems in terms either of their content, aesthetics or form – poetry films. It is a project of the Literaturwerkstatt Berlin in cooperation with interfilm Berlin and with the kind support of the Hauptstadtkulturfonds,the German Literature Fund, the Goethe Institute, Alfred Ritter GmbH & Co. KG and the Polish Institute Berlin. It takes place as part of the poesiefestival berlin.
